Procedure Expectations and Prep

Short procedure, lasting results

YUTIQ® (fluocinolone acetonide intravitreal implant) 0.18 mg is administered by an eye doctor during a simple in-office procedure and is designed to deliver a low dose of steroid for up to 36 months.

What to expect from the procedure

BEFORE your treatment begins, your eyelid is held open with a device called a speculum, your eye is numbed with drops, and a topical antiseptic is applied to the eye.

DURING your procedure, the YUTIQ implant will be inserted with a tiny needle. As the implant is injected, you may feel pressure on your eye.

AFTER your procedure, your eye will be monitored for possible side effects, such as increased pressure in your eye, right after the implant is inserted and then again 2 to 7 days as directed by your doctor.

It’s important to keep up with your appointments so your eye doctor can carefully monitor your condition.

You may experience temporary visual blurring after receiving the YUTIQ injection. DO NOT drive or use machinery until this has been resolved. It is recommended that you bring a caregiver or family member to your procedure to drive you home afterward.

Talk with your retina or uveitis specialist about treatment with YUTIQ. Don’t have one?

When I was told YUTIQ could last up to 3 years, I jumped at the opportunity.
