There’s a lot to see in 3 years, and YUTIQ works to help keep uveitis from
interrupting your life.

What is YUTIQ?

YUTIQ is a tiny implant that is placed in the eye, designed to deliver a sustained release of medicine for up to 36 months. Treating within the eye, YUTIQ delivers a low, continuous dose of medicine.
In scientific studies, patients with YUTIQ had up to a 60% decrease in uveitis recurrence at 6 months. There were similar results at 12 months, where patients with YUTIQ had up to a 58% decrease in uveitis recurrence.
YUTIQ was studied in 2 different trials in patients with non-infectious uveitis in the back of the eye. In the first study, 87 patients were treated with YUTIQ and 42 were treated with a sham injection (the control group). In the second study, 101 patients were treated with YUTIQ and 52 with a sham injection. The main goal of these studies was to determine how many patients experienced a repeat episode of uveitis within 6 months of treatment with either YUTIQ or the sham injection.
Most patients treated with YUTIQ did not experience a repeat uveitis episode; at 36 months, around 94% of patients did not experience uveitis, compared to 71% of sham injection patients. YUTIQ is designed for longer duration so you may have fewer injection appointments. Some of the common side effects in more than 10% of patients treated with YUTIQ are cataracts, reduced visual acuity (unclear vision), and macular edema (swelling around the retina).

The idea that I wouldn’t have to submit my eyeballs, or my psyche, to the trauma of receiving injections every 8 weeks was my main motivation for agreeing to YUTIQ treatment.
